Step-by-step
Step 1
Switch off the main electricity supply to the geyser at the circuit breaker and verify it’s off using a multimeter.

Turn off the cold water inlet valve connected to the geyser to stop water flow.
Step 3
Open the nearest hot water tap to release pressure, then attach a hose or bucket to the geyser’s drain valve and empty all water.
Step 4
Remove the metal access panel on the side of the geyser, then carefully disconnect the wires from the old thermostat—take a photo or label each wire before removal.
Step 5
Unscrew the old thermostat from the tank, remove it, and install the new one in the exact same position, ensuring the sensing bulb makes full contact with the tank wall.
Step 6
Reconnect the wires exactly as they were, replace the access panel, close the drain valve, open the water inlet, and wait until water flows steadily from the hot tap before restoring power.
